If you’ve been feeling more stressed, tired, or just off lately… you’re not alone.
Most people are doing all the “right” things for their health, but still feel like their body never fully slows down.
That’s where cold plunging comes in.
Not as something extreme or intimidating, but as a simple way to help your body reset.
More and more people are turning to cold plunging as a way to regulate stress, boost energy, and feel more in control of how they move through their day.
A cold plunge is a form of cold exposure where you immerse your body in cold water, typically between 45–55°F, for a short period of time.
It might feel intense at first, but the goal isn’t to stay in as long as possible.
The goal is to:
It’s less about endurance… and more about awareness.
The initial reaction to cold water is completely normal.
Your body experiences a quick spike in stress, which can look like:
But here’s where the shift happens.
When you stay calm and control your breath, you’re teaching your nervous system that it’s safe… even in a stressful moment.
That skill carries into everyday life more than you might expect.
People who consistently use a cold plunge often experience benefits that go far beyond the session itself.
Cold exposure helps regulate your nervous system, making it easier for your body to come back to baseline after stress.
Many people leave a session feeling more alert, clear-headed, and energized.
Cold plunging can help reduce inflammation and muscle soreness after workouts or long days.
You’re practicing staying calm in discomfort, which builds confidence and emotional control over time.
If your life feels full, fast-paced, and overstimulating, your body rarely gets a chance to reset.
Cold plunging creates a forced pause.
In just a few minutes, you can:
And for many people, that’s the part that feels the most powerful.
This is one of the biggest misconceptions.
You don’t have to:
In fact, the most effective sessions are often short and controlled.
At Vitalis, we guide you through:
So instead of feeling overwhelmed, you feel supported.
We recommend your first cold plunge sessions last between 60 seconds to 3 minutes. If it’s your first time, we also recommend you start at 55 degrees. You can always work your way up in time and down in temperature. That said, it’s unique to each individual. For example, women should not cold plunge in temperatures as extreme as men. This is due to different hormone balances within men and women. It’s not advised to cold plunge in temperatures lower than 50 degrees for women.
Cold plunge on its own is powerful.
But when you pair it with heat, like sauna, it becomes even more effective.
This combination, known as contrast therapy, helps:
It’s one of the most effective ways to support both your body and your mind.
At Vitalis, cold plunging isn’t something you have to figure out on your own.
You can choose between:
But more importantly, you’re in an environment that encourages you to slow down instead of rush through it.
Because this isn’t about checking a box.
It’s about learning how to feel better in your body.
For most people:
Like anything in wellness, consistency matters more than intensity.
If you’ve been feeling:
Cold plunging might be one of the simplest ways to start shifting that.
Not because it’s extreme.
But because it teaches your body something it’s been missing.
You don’t need to overthink it.
You just need a place to start.
If you’re ready to try a cold plunge in Mount Juliet, TN, we’d love to guide you through your first experience.
You’ll learn how to do it safely, comfortably, and in a way that actually supports your body.
